It can be difficult to narrow down where to travel with your kids. After all, the world has an endless supply of travel destinations! The list below is meant to spark your imagination and to help hone in on your destination. The suggestions below were made with kids 5 and older in mind.

Keukenhof, Netherlands
An easy day trip from Amsterdam, Keukenhof has more tulips than you could dream of. There are fields of tulips arranged by color, perfect for your family photo ops. These flowers bloom in early spring, making March or April the perfect time to travel here.
With more than 74 acres and 7 million flowers, there are several separate gardens to view. There’s even a traditional Dutch mill on the property that you can climb!

Cancún, Mexico
Cancún is a wonderful destination year round, and is a popular spring break destination that’s known for its all-inclusive resorts and pristine white sand beaches. There are several family-friendly accommodations you can stay at to avoid the wild party-goers. Opt for a smaller resort, as these tend to attract quieter travelers. Big resorts with thousands of rooms are more likely to be party resorts.
What can families do here? Splash around at a waterpark, swim in a cenote (natural sinkhole), go snorkeling at MUSA, the underwater sculpture museum and visit ancient Maya ruins like the famous Chichén Itzá. Bonus: at the tropical getaway linked below, kids as young as 8 can start scuba diving!

Galapagos Islands
Visit the Galapagos Islands after the Darwin unit in science class to keep keep kids excited about learning! This is the perfect destination for your wildlife lovers to really connect with nature.
Spring is the best time to get in the water in the Galapagos. Kids will enjoy swimming with sea lions, dolphins and marine iguanas, and you may even spot a whale. Bird watching is great fun here – spot the red or blue footed boobies, flamingoes and tons of other species you won’t find anywhere else on Earth!

Cairo, Egypt
Egypt is another great destination for family travel in spring to keep kids excited about school. You can find tons of ancient Egyptian artifacts at the Egyptian Museum. Learn more about the modern culture by visiting one of the city’s many mosques or the Citadel.
Head to Giza and ride a camel to visit the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. Visit the tomb of King Tut. Spring is a great time to visit the desert as it’s not quite as hot as summer.

Travel Insurance
I highly recommend family travel insurance for every vacation. This gives you peace of mind should anything go wrong before or during your trip. Getting a blanket policy to cover every aspect of your trip means you only have to contact a single company, rather than one for each trip component (flights, hotels, tours, etc.).
I use Arch RoamRight for my family insurance when traveling. Get your personalized quote here!

What great adventures for kids. I wish we would have traveled more when our son was young.
It’s never too late! 🙂
It has been years since we went to Kukenhof and I loved it so much that I have been wanting to go back for awhile. We visited way before we had our child as well so what a great idea to take our little one.
Traveling with children is not easy, especially at first, but once you get started and get the hand of it, you just want to go everywhere!!!
Such a fun way to see the world as well!!
I could go to Keukenhof for the tulips every year! Parenting is hard anywhere. Might as well be doing it around the globe! 😉
Great Options! To be honest, I think most places can be good options to take kids…. it’s just the activities you’ll end up doing are a little different than a trip without little’uns!
I agree – kids can travel pretty much anywhere!
You normally here you can’t travel with kids in your own country because it is too hard, but then you show it can be done going ANYWHERE! Love it!! Thank you for compiling this information.
The hardest part is getting over the idea that traveling with kids is too hard. I don’t believe in putting travel on hold just because you have kids!
Love that advice, if they have kids there, you can travel with kids there! So true.
No destination is off limits!
