Sighișoara Romania Babymoon Logistics

How many days do you need to visit Sighișoara? We recommend one full day for a gentle babymoon visit. This allows you to explore the Citadel at a comfortable pace without rushing.

The Citadel is small and mostly pedestrianized, making it ideal for easy exploration while pregnant.

Take note that the Citadel is up on a hill, which offers excellent views. However, the lower town has easier access and is still a stunning medieval area to explore!

To avoid steepest part of the climb, try to park within the citadel! We parked in the lower town and made a few stops to enjoy the view as we climbed up to the Church on the Hill (Biserica din Deal). I found this was easy on my bump while still getting in some exercise.

Sighișoara Must-See Sights

Is Sighișoara a walkable city? Yes! Sighișoara is a very walkable city, especially within the Citadel itself. The main challenge is the initial climb, but once you’re inside the walls, most of the walking is flat.

The Covered Stairway (Scholars’ Stairs) is challenging (300+ stairs!), but a must-see sight in Sighișoara. Conversely, you can walk the paved road next to the stairs for an easier uphill climb. Check out the first few steps from the top or bottom if you want to see decades of graffiti and carvings.

The Church on the Hill (Biserica din Deal) is an excellent place to check out the city below. It’s a quiet area to sit for a break after your climb up!

Can you go inside the Clock Tower Sighișoara? Yes! And it also offers excellent views. However, the stairwells are very narrow and can get crowded. You will still get a great view from up in the Citadel, or you can head to the Belvedere viewpoint instead.

If you decide to cross the river, you should check out the black and white Holy Trinity Orthodox Church as well!

Quiet Moments in Sighișoara

Is Sighișoara worth visiting? Absolutely. Sighișoara is a great destination, especially while expecting! The city has a perfectly preserved medieval Old Town without the hustle and bustle of a major city.

If you plan to visit the Vlad Dracul House, try to arrive right at opening to avoid crowds. You can also just check out the exterior if you don’t feel the need to enter. We opted not to go in, and don’t feel like we missed anything.

As for the rest of the town, make sure you explore the outer defensive towers. Or find a quiet cafe in an alley off of Citadel Square.

You can also join a guided walking tour to get some history tidbits around town! If you want more Dracula, this candlelight walking tour is also a great option!

Conclusion

As a beautiful medieval town, Sighișoara is a perfect stop on your babymoon itinerary. Its romantic, low-stress and low on crowds, making it a no brainer for expecting mamas!
